However, feel free to sprinkle in a little thyme or oregano.ĭo not let your zoodles get too soft. We also added in a very generous sprinkling of this herb and spices mix we had. Do not let them stay in one place too long so they don’t burn! As the zoodles start to soften, season them with a sprinkle of salt (I always use kosher salt when cooking) and a few twists of pepper. Once the onions are slightly brown, add in the zoodles and let them cook. You can also cut up a clove of garlic or use a small shallot (both chopped finely) and put that in with the onions. We used a spiraler when we made this most recently so it came out like this: I’m not a fan of the peel, so I always take it off first! Slice, peel, spiral, whatever your zucchini into small strips. If you don’t have a spiraler or “zoodle-maker”, don’t worry! You can use a vegetable peeler or knife to make thin strands out of the zucchini (trust me, it works, I’ve used my vegetable peeler before I got a zoodle-maker). So if you’re looking for a healthy substitute for pasta, zoodles are for you! Quite honestly, you can make them with a variety of veggies, but my favorite way is with zucchini. They are super easy to make since you just need a spiralizer that you can find in almost any store + the spiralizer can be really really affordable so it’s totally not a fancy kitchen tool that’s going to cost you the same as your rent. If you haven’t heard about zoodles before, they are basically pasta made with a zucchini they are also called zucchini noodles (that’s where the name zoodles come from). These Zoodles Spaghetti with Meat Sauce have been on repeat around here for the last couple of dinners, and I honestly couldn’t be any happier. Do you ever crave pasta? Becuase I just seriously can’t stop my Italian food cravings! So instead of fighting them I decided to embrace them in a healthy and even more delicious way.
